Vaasaamsi jeernaani yathaa vihaaya - Selected Verses of Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 02, Verse 22

'Selected Verses of Bhagavad Gita' recounts only selected verses of The Gita, which Krishna has said as it is.

Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 02, Verse 22
English:
Vaasaamsi jeernaani yathaa vihaaya
Navaani grihnaati naro’paraani
Tathaa shareeraani vihaaya jeernaani
Anyaani samyaati navaani dehee
Sanskrit: 
वासंसि जिर्णानि यथा विहाय
नवानि गृह्णाति नरोपराणि
तथा शरीराणि विहाय जिर्णानि
अन्यानि संयाति नवानि देही
Oriya: 
ବାସାଂସି ଜିର୍ଣାନି ୟଥା ବିହାୟ
ନବାନି ଗୃହ୍ଣାତି ନରୋପରାଣି
ତଥା ଶରୀରାଣି ବିହାୟ ଜିର୍ଣାନି
ଅନ୍ୟାନି ସମୟାତି ନବାନି ଦେହୀ

Selected word meaning:
vaasaamsi - garments, jirnaani - old and worn out, yathaa - just as, vihaaya - giving up, navaani - new garments, grhnaati - accepts, narah - a man, aparaani - other, tathaa - in the same way, shareeraani - bodies, vihaaya - giving up, jirnaani - old and useless, anyaani - different, samyaati - verily accepts, navaani - new, dehee - the embodied soul

Translation:
Just as a man giving up worn-out clothes and puts on new ones, in the same way the embodied Self (Soul) casts off worn-out bodies and verily accepts new bodies.
