Hato vaa praapsyasi svargam - Selected Verses of Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 02, Verse 37

'Selected Verses of Bhagavad Gita' recounts only selected verses of The Gita, which Krishna has said as it is.

Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 02, Verse 37
English:
Hato vaa praapsyasi svargam jitvaa vaa bhokshyase maheem
Tasmaad uttishtha kaunteya yuddhaaya kritanishchayah
Sanskrit: 
हतो वा प्रापस्यसि स्वर्गम् जित्वा वा भोक्ष्यसे महीम्
तस्मात् उत्तीष्ठ कौन्तेय युद्धाय कृतनिश्चयः
Oriya: 
ହତୋ ବା ପ୍ରାପସ୍ୟସି ସ୍ଵର୍ଗମ୍ ଜିତ୍ଵା ବା ଭୋକ୍ଷ୍ୟସେ ମହୀମ୍
ତସ୍ମାତ୍ ଉତ୍ତିଷ୍ଠ କୌନ୍ତେୟ ଯୁଦ୍ଧାୟ କୃତନିଶ୍ଚୟଃ

Selected word meaning:
hatah - being killed, vaa - either, praapsyasi - you will attain, svargam - the heavenly worlds, jitvaa - by conquering, vaa - or, bhoksyase - you will enjoy, maheem - the world, tasmat - therefore, uttishtha - get up, kaunteya - O son of Kunti, yuddhaaya - for battle, krita - determined, niscayah - uncertainty

Translation:
O son of Kunti, either being slain you will obtain the heavenly worlds or by gaining victory will enjoy the earth, therefore, rise up, and be determined to fight.
