Duhkheshu anudvignamanaah - Selected Verses of Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 02, Verse 56

'Selected Verses of Bhagavad Gita' recounts only selected verses of The Gita, which Krishna has said as it is.

Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 02, Verse 56
English:
Duhkheshu anudvignamanaah sukheshu vigatasprihah
Veetaraagabhayakrodhah sthitadheer munir uchyate
Sanskrit: 
दुःखेषु अनुद्विग्नमनाः सूखेषू विगतस्पृहः
वीतरागभयक्रोधह स्थितधीर्मुनिरुच्यते
Oriya: 
ଦୁଃଖେଷୁ ଅନୁଦ୍ବିଗ୍ନମନାଃ ସୁଖେଷୁ ବିଗତସ୍ପୃହଃ
ବୀତରାଗଭୟକ୍ରୋଧହ ସ୍ଥିତଧୀର୍ମୁନିରୁଚ୍ୟତେ

Selected word meaning:
duhkhesu - in distress, anudvigna manaah - not disturbed in mind, sukhesu - in happiness, vigata sprihah - does not desire for, veeta - free from, raga - attachment, bhaya - fear, krodhah - anger, sthita dhih -  steady mind (state of equanimity in mind), munih - a sage, uchyate - is called

Translation:
One whose mind is not disturbed by distress, who does not desire for pleasures, and who is free from attachment, fear and anger, is called a sage of steady mind (one, who has acquired equanimity).
