Translation:

Translation:
O Arjuna, the Vedic scriptures deal with the subject of the three modes of material nature. Become self realized, transcendent to these three modes. Be free from all dualities and from all anxieties for gain and safety, and be established in the Self, the state of pure spiritual consciousness.

Further Note:
This verse of Bhagavad Gita has prime importance in the life of Sri Thakura Nigamananda Paramahansa. Nalinikanta was his name before taking snnyas. His association with his wife stayed only for a few years after marriage. Nalinikanta was not present when his beloved wife breathed her last. His wife, on death bed told her aunt to tell her husband, Nalinikanta, to practice 'Nistraigunya' and not get married again. Nalinikanta was obsessed with her wife and followed her words and did not marry after her death. Instead, he started his spiritual quest for existence of life after death and became a prominent yogi of modern India.

na - never, enam - this soul, cchindanti - cut to pieces, shastraani - weapons, dahati - burns, paavakah - fire, na - never, cha - also, enam - unto this soul, kledayanti - make wet, aapah - water, na - never, shosayati - dries, maarutah - wind

Translation:
Weapons cannot cut It (the soul), fire cannot burn It, water cannot wet It and wind cannot dry It up.

Sanskrit: 

वासंसि जिर्णानि यथा विहाय
नवानि गृह्णाति नरोपराणि
तथा शरीराणि विहाय जिर्णानि
अन्यानि संयाति नवानि देही

Oriya: 

ବାସାଂସି ଜିର୍ଣାନି ୟଥା ବିହାୟ
ନବାନି ଗୃହ୍ଣାତି ନରୋପରାଣି
ତଥା ଶରୀରାଣି ବିହାୟ ଜିର୍ଣାନି
ଅନ୍ୟାନି ସମୟାତି ନବାନି ଦେହୀ

Selected word meaning:
vaasaamsi - garments, jirnaani - old and worn out, yathaa - just as, vihaaya - giving up, navaani - new garments, grhnaati - accepts, narah - a man, aparaani - other, tathaa - in the same way, shareeraani - bodies, vihaaya - giving up, jirnaani - old and useless, anyaani - different, samyaati - verily accepts, navaani - new, dehee - the embodied soul

Translation:
Just as a man giving up worn-out clothes and puts on new ones, in the same way the embodied Self (Soul) casts off worn-out bodies and verily accepts new bodies.

Translation:
He (Soul) is never born nor dies. He is unborn, eternal, ever-existing, undying and primeval. He is not killed when the body is killed.

Translation:
He who thinks the Self (soul) to be the slayer and he who thinks He is slain, neither of them
knows. Self slays not nor is He slain.
