Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 02, Verse 19
English:
Ya enam vetti hantaaram yashchainam manyate hatam
Ubhau tau na vijaaneeto naayam hanti na hanyate
Sanskrit:
य एनं वेत्ति हन्तारं यश्चैनं मन्यते हतम
उभौ तौ न विजानीतो नायम हन्ति न हन्यते
Oriya:
ୟ ଏନମ ବେନ୍ତି ହନ୍ତାରମ ୟଶ୍ଚେଇନଂ ମନ୍ୟତେ ହତମ
ଉଭୌ ତୌ ନ ବିଜାନୀତୋ ନାୟମ ହନ୍ତି ନ ହନ୍ୟତେ
Selected word meaning:
yah - anyone, enam - this (soul), vetti - thinks, hantaaram - slayer, yah - anyone, cha - also, enam - this, manyate - thinks, hatam - slain, ubhau - both of them, tau - they, na - never, vijanitah - in knowledge, na - never, ayam - this, hanti - kills, na - nor, hanyate - be killed
Translation:
He who thinks the Self (soul) to be the slayer and he who thinks He is slain, neither of them
knows. Self slays not nor is He slain.
