Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 02, Verse 67
English:
Indriyaanaam hi charataam yanmano’nuvidheeyate
Tadasya harati prajnyaam vaayur naavam ivaambhasi
Sanskrit:
इंद्रियाणां हि चरतां यन्मनोनुविधीयते
तदस्य हरति प्रज्ञाम् वायुर्नावमिवाम्भसि
Oriya:
ଇନ୍ଦ୍ରିୟାଣାମ୍ ହି ଚରତାମ୍ ୟନ୍ମନୋନୁବିଧୀୟତେ
ତଦସ୍ୟ ହରତି ପ୍ରଜ୍ଞାମ୍ ବାୟୁର୍ଣାବମିବାମ୍ଭସି
Selected word meaning:
indriyaanaam - of the senses, hi - certainly, charataam - roaming, yat - that, manah - mind, anuvidheeyate - becomes constantly engaged, tat - that, asya - his, harati - takes away, prajnyaam - intelligence, vaayuh - wind, naavam - a boat, iva - like, ambhasi - on the water
Translation:
As a strong wind sweeps away a boat on water, even one of the roaming senses on which mind focuses, carries away one's intelligence.
