Yadyadaacharati shreshtha - Selected Verses of Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 03, Verse 21

Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 03, Verse 21
English:
Yadyadaacharati shreshthastattadevetaro janah
Sa yat pramaanam kurute lokah tad anuvartate
Sanskrit: 
यदयदाचरति श्रेष्ठस्तत्तदेवेतरो जनः
स यत् प्रमाणम् कुरुते लोकः तदनुवर्तते
Oriya: 
ଯଦଯଦାଚରତି ଶ୍ରେଷ୍ଠସ୍ତତ୍ତଦେବେତରୋ ଜନଃ
ସ ଯତ୍ ପରମାଣମ୍ କୁରୁତେ ଲୋକଃ ତଦନୁବର୍ତତେ

Selected word meaning:
यत् yat = whatever, यत् yat = and whichever, आचरति aacharati = conduct onself, श्रेष्ठ: shreshthah = a respectable leader, तत् tat = that, तत् tat = and that alone, एव eva = certainly, इतरः itarah = common, जनः janah = person, सः sah = he, यत् yat = whichever, प्रमाणं pramanam = evidence, कुरुते kurute = does perform, लोकः lokah = all the world, तत् tat = that, अनुवर्तते anuvartate = follow

Translation:
Whatsoever a great personality does, common men also do and whatever he sets up as standard, that the world follows.

Karmanaiva hi samsiddhim - Selected Verses of Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 03, Verse 20

Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 03, Verse 20
English:
Karmanaiva hi samsiddhim aasthitaa janakaadayah
Lokasangraham evaapi sampashyan kartum arhasi
Sanskrit: 
कर्मणैव हि संसिद्धिम् आस्थिता जनकादयः
लोकसंग्रहम् एवापि सम्पश्यन् कर्तुम् अर्हसि
Oriya: 
କର୍ମଣେଇବ ହି ସଂସିଦ୍ଧିମ୍ ଆସ୍ଥିତା ଜନକାଦୟଃ
ଲୋକସଂଗ୍ରହମ୍ ଏବାପି ସମ୍ପଶ୍ୟନ୍ କର୍ତୁମ୍ ଅର୍ହସି

Selected word meaning:
karmanaa - by work, eva - likewise, hi - certainly, samsiddhim - perfection, aasthitaah - situated, janaka adayah - Janaka and other kings, loka sangraham - welfare of world, eva - also, api - for the sake of, sampashyan - by considering, kartum - to perform, arhasi - deserve

Translation:
King Janaka and others attained perfection by performing duties. Similarly, for the welfare of world you should perform your duties.

Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 03, Verse 19
English:
Tasmaat asaktah satatam kaaryam karma samaachara
Asakto hyaacharan karma param aapnoti poorushah
Sanskrit: 
तस्मात् असक्तः सततम् कार्यम् कर्म समाचर
असक्तो हयाचारन् कर्म परमाप्नोति पुरूष:
Oriya: 
ତସ୍ମାତ୍ ଅସକ୍ତଃ ସତତମ୍ କାର୍ଯମ୍ କର୍ମ ସମାଚର
ଅସକ୍ତୋ ହ୍ୟାଚରନ୍ କର୍ମ ପରମାପ୍ନୋତି ପୂରୁଷହ

Selected word meaning:
tasmaat - therefore, asaktah - without attachment, satatam - constantly, kaaryam - prescribed actions (duties), karma - work, samachara - perfectly perform, asaktah - nonattached, hi - certainly, acharan - by performing, karma - work, param - the Supreme, aapnoti - achieves, purusah - a person

Translation:
Therefore, without attachment, always do your prescribed duties since by performing prescribed duties a person attains the Supreme.
